Architecture is the process of planning, designing, and constructing buildings or any other structures. Architectural works or designs, in the material form of buildings, are often perceived as cultural symbols and as works of art. Historical civilizations are often identified with their surviving architectural achievements.

Winston Churchill was once quoted saying “we shape our buildings and thereafter they shape us”, this is something that stands true till this date.

Architecture is an expression of who you are and this why whenever we look at the ancient culture we tend to look at their architecture
first. The inherently public nature of architecture means that the work architects do is similar to sociology and psychology; setting the stage for social behaviours and interior reactions.

Design is a discipline of innovation: its essence is the creation of something new and unique. Architectural design is part art and part science. As an art, it provides an outlet for creative expression that leads society to look at their living space and the overall environment in different ways. At the same time, architecture responds to society’s functional needs while making use of modern technology in building design. This has a lot of influence on the way we live today or want to live. Design educators are faced with a unique challenge with respect to the need for increasing the level of the creative performance of their students. Teachers have a responsibility that goes beyond contributing to the development of creative designers. However, design courses stand out as those in which students not only have the time and freedom to be creative but are required to have and are rewarded for such behaviour. The goal is to develop creative strategies in all design courses, with these strategies transferring across the entire breadth and depth of a designer’s education.

Thus at IID, we generally tend to promote the creative thinking abilities of students rather than providing them with solutions our prime goal is to be more practice-oriented. For this, we conduct our lectures in different localities such as class, gardens, roadsides, etc. This approach opens up the minds of future designers and architects. The adoption of such techniques helps students to learn through experimentation, and they become self-learners and good thinkers Conducting several workshops for design, architecture and fashion design students, helps them to improve their visualization skills which in turn helps them to draw better and with clarity.
